Our major refurbishment project at St John with St Augustine C of E Primary School has been successfully handed over to the client. The project began in July 2019 following a lead theft to the infants building. The theft caused severe damage to both the external building fabric and internally to the classroom spaces rendering the building completely unhabitable.
Cowan & Co assisted the school in renting temporary classroom buildings, investigated various options available to repair, reinstate or replace the infants building, completed a successful SCA bid for funding, procured and project managed the refurbishment project on site.
The works were also further complicated by the Covid-19 pandemic with the works temporarily paused on site during lockdown. Despite the difficulties encountered the project has been completed during the summer holidays ready for the start of the new school term. The temporary buildings have now been removed from site and the pupils will be able to take full advantage of the newly refurbishment teaching accommodation when they return to school in September.
