Modular Classroom Building Coppull St John’s C of E Primary School, Chorley

About project

Type:  New Build

Value:  £310k

Completion:  2022

CCO worked with Coppull St John’s C of E Primary School to address two issues relating to the school’s existing teaching accommodation. The first issue being the dilapidated and poor condition of the existing 90s pre-fab building on site (occupied by the local pre-school) and the second being the issues associated with the existing infant classroom in the main school building which is located off the main school thoroughfare.

CCO successfully secured SCA funding from the Diocese for the project to replace the dilapidated pre-fab modular building which had reached the end of its usable lifespan with a new modular classroom building. The new building would not only provide a new pre-school facility but also a new EYFS classroom, eliminating the issues currently being experienced with the existing classroom in the main school building.

The new modular building is located in the same position on-site as the former pre-fab building and was completed on-site in just two months. The new building features a pitched roof and is completed with neutral rainscreen cladding panels with generous glazing throughout. Within the building, there are two new classrooms, shared kitchen area, and toilet facilities. An energy-efficient heat pump has also been installed to heat the building which will assist in reducing the overall carbon footprint of the school.

The new classroom & pre-school building was officially opened by Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP and speaker of the House of Commons on Friday 18th of November 2022.
