Classroom Extension St Mark's C of E Primary School, Cumbria

About project

Type:  New Build

Value:  £260k

Completion:  2017

CCO were initially approached by St Mark’s C of E Primary School in Natland to prepare a feasibility study exploring how best to provide additional accommodation to enable the school to increase the number of places available. After evaluating the school’s existing accommodation against Building Bulletin 103 – Area Guidelines for Mainstream Schools. CCO prepared a feasibility/development plan for the school which explored the feasibility of the options available to extend and enhance the accommodation along with budget costing and a proposed programme for the works. The feasibility study was then used to support a successful application for ‘basic need’ funding from the Local Authority to build a new classroom.

The new extension provides a much needed additional classroom with associated storage and toilet provisions. Adaptation works have also been carried out within the existing school building which have enabled the creation of a new accessible WC and enlargement of an existing classroom through internal re-modelling works.
