Community & Worship Facility Trinity Methodist Church, Croston

About project

Type:  New Build

Value:  £290k

Completion: 2009

In late 2007 CCO were appointed by the Trustees of Croston Methodist Church to design an extension to the existing church to create a new community facility to accommodate the Sunday school and other community groups. As part of the works an internal refurbishment of the existing chapel was also carried out to create a more flexible worship space.

Located within a conversation area the new extension has been sensitively designed to reflect the existing church which dates back to the late 19th Century and surrounding local context. Externally the extension is constructed in red facing brickwork with generously sized arched windows to match the existing church building. Internally the new building provides a multi-purpose function room, kitchen and toilet facilities.

CCO were honoured to receive a Chorley Civic Society Award in 2010 in recognition of the project’s high standard of design and the building’s contribution to the townscape.
