Church Re-Ordering St James' Church, Chorley

About project

Type:  Conservation/Refurbishment

Value:  £40k

Completion:  2018

St James’s Church is a vibrant C of E Church dating back to 1878 and is located in the Lancashire town of Chorley. The church’s most recent quinquennial inspection carried out by CCO in 2016 highlighted the lack of suitable toilet provisions provided internally within the church, in particular the lack of accessible WC. Discussions took place with the PCC regarding the feasibility of re-ordering the church to provide a new main entrance area to replace the existing small internal porch and to provide the much-needed toilet facilities.

Now complete the new spacious entrance lobby is a welcoming and inviting space with comfortable seating provided for users of the building. The enhanced facilities provided as part of re-ordering works in particular the provision of the new toilets have greatly improved the church’s flexibility to host a wide range of community events. A new disabled toilet has also been provided as part of the works which ensures that the church building is accessible for all members of the congregation.
