Extension Works Anchorsholme Academy, Blackpool
About project
Type: New Build
Value: £350k
Completion: 2017
Anchorsholme Academy appointed CCO to assist them in addressing a number of issues affecting the school’s accommodation mainly the following;
- Temporary classroom building
- Lack of facilities to accommodate community groups/events
- Lack of a feature main school entrance/reception area
- Safeguarding issues due to the open nature of the site
As part of this project CCO successfully secured Condition Improvement Funding from the Education & Skills Funding Agency to replace the temporary classroom building at the school. The replacement accommodation has been provided through two extensions to the existing building. The first extension houses two new classrooms and features a bespoke bi-folding wall to create one large space suitable for community groups and events. The second extension to the main school building creates a statement feature entrance area complete with secure entrance lobby, large reception area, meeting room and accessible WC. External works have also been completed to improve pupil safeguarding. New fencing has been provided to secure the school site and a large automatic sliding gate has also been installed which allows staff to control the flow of vehicles to and from the site car park.
The new extensions signify a major step forward in the school’s development plan whilst also addressing several accommodation issues. The client is extremely pleased with the final project which they state has gone above and beyond the project brief.
