King James’s School is a Grade II listed building located in the Almondbury conservation area in West Yorkshire. The original school building dates back to 1743 and features hammer dressed stonework, pitched stone slate roofs and timber single glazed windows. CCO has worked with King James’s School to successfully secure Condition Improvement Funding (CIF) from the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) to complete external fabric repairs to the building. CCO has secured funding over two phases to replace the original single glazed timber windows and complete stonework repairs to the oldest sections of the school building.
The replacement of the existing windows with new robust components has eliminated the H&S issues associated with the dilapidated windows and ensures that the internal fabric of the Grade II listed building is protected. The existing stonework has been repaired including re-pointing works and replacement of defective stonework with new stonework moulded to match the original. The external fabric repair projects have ensured that this important local building is kept in use as a school for many more years to come.
