Liverpool College is a popular all-through academy catering for pupils aged 4-19. The academy’s teaching accommodation comprises of over 30 separate buildings set within a large campus in South Liverpool. CCO have worked with the Trust to successfully secure Condition Improvement Funding (CIF) from the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) to refurbish one of the key original main school buildings dating back to the 1930s. CCO have secured funding over two phases to replace the original single glazed timber and metal framed windows and doors, a second phase of funding was then secured to refurbish the existing roof.
The CIF funding has enabled the complete replacement of the dilapidated windows with new thermally efficient double glazed windows. Although not a listed building the school campus is located within a conservation area. CCO prepared a planning application for the works and liaised with the planners to ensure planning permission was secured for the replacement of the windows.
In addition to assisting the school in securing funding for the project, CCO provided building surveying and full project management services for the works on site. The provision of new thermally efficient robust aluminium windows and roof coverings ensures that a comfortable teaching environment is maintained. The new windows have also improved the ventilation rate within the classrooms through the provision of larger opening lights. The refurbishment of the windows and roof ensures that the original features of the original school building are maintained, ensuring the school building is kept in use for many more years to come.
